Opportunities for Weekly Spiritual Formation
The two groups listed below offer different approaches to prayer and spiritual formation. Both have been used for centuries in Christian tradition. “Reflection and Meditation” is based on Centering Prayer, a type of contemplative prayer that seeks to experience God’s presence in silence, without words or images. “Bible and Book” is based on Ignatian Spirituality, which encourages the use of the imagination and conversation with God. Both are tools for the spiritual journey and complement each other. You are welcome to attend one or both groups.
Reflection and Meditation
Meetings will be 1:00 to 2:00 in the Becket Chapel on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month, beginning September 20th. Each session will include two parts – shared reflections about a piece of writing that will be distributed, followed by a silent time of Centering Prayer. Everyone is invited. Come when you can. The group will not meet during the Christmas/New Year break. For information, contact Ginger Butler, email@example.com.
Bible and Book
Meetings will be 11:00 to 12:00 in the Clark Counseling Room every Wednesday, beginning September 5th. We will use two books in the fall: Sacred Space, compiled by the Jesuits of Ireland, and Hallelujah Anyway: Rediscovering Mercy by the well-known author Anne Lamott. Come when you can. The group will not meet during the Christmas/New Year break. For Information, contact Ann Rose, firstname.lastname@example.org .
